The 1 Constant…Baseball
“The one constant through all the years…has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again, but baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, it’s a part of our past…It reminds us of all that once was good and it could be again…”

About the Creator of THE 1 CONSTANT
I began my existence right in the middle of the Big Red Machine’s run as the best team in baseball. I became a New York Mets fan in the early 1980s after being exposed to Minor League Baseball and the abundance of young talent arriving on the scene by means of seeing the Lynchburg Mets play my local Hagerstown Suns who were affiliated with the Baltimore Orioles at the time in the Carolina League. In my playing days I was primarily a second baseman while playing for a successful high school program followed up with experience at two college programs.
Favorite players through the years have ranged from the 1980′s greats that were Wade Boggs, Will Clark, Dennis Eckersley, Tony Gwynn, Paul Molitor, and Ryan Sandberg – to ’86ers and fan favorites such as Wally Backman, Gary Carter, Ron Darling, Lenny Dykstra, Sid Fernandez, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez, Howard Johnson, Ray Knight, Roger McDowell, Bobby Ojeda, Jesse Orosco, Darryl Strawberry, and Mookie Wilson – to Barry Lamar Bonds – to the late 1990′s Mets such as Edgardo Alfonzo, John Olerud, Rey Ordonez, Mike Piazza, Robin Ventura, and Turk Wendell who were all responsible for the Mets resurgence – to the electric and wonderful career of Pedro Martinez - to the dynamic duo of Roberto Alomar and Omar Vizquel of the great Indians teams – to the respected Derek Jeter – to more recent Mets such as Carlos Beltran, Carlos Delgado, Cliff Floyd, Johan Santana, and Billy Wagner.
I enjoy a well pitched, defensive minded, small-ball oriented, strategic, and low-scoring ballgame but nothing is better than hearing Vin Scully call a game. Favorite MLB moment…
“a little roller up along first…behind the bag! It gets through Buckner, here comes Knight and the Mets win it!!! The Mets are not only alive, they are well, and will play the Red Sox in Game 7 tomorrow.”
…said the great Scully after Game 6 of the 1986 World Series.
